Barbed Wire
Barbed wire, also known as barb wire, is a type of steel fencing using double or triple twisted wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strands. It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is also a major feature of the fortifications in trench warfare (as a wire obstacle). We offer Barbed Wires made from galvanized wire, Stainless Steel or PVC coated iron wire coils.

- These wires are made with 2 OR 3 strands of the wire twisted and 4 points, while the barb to barb distance ranges from 3″ to 6″.
- It is also very difficult to cross a fence made of barbed wires, also a very popular and successful option for fencing right from home boundaries to borders.
- Barbed wire fencing is usually found in prisons, airports, highway side, animal feeding fields and war zones.
A person or animal trying to pass through or over barbed wire will suffer discomfort and possibly injury.
Galvanized Iron (G.I) Wires:
The most common type of wire used to make Barbed Wires. The anti-rust life of the wire depends on the thickness of the zinc coating on the wire which ranges from 25 gsm* to 275 gsm*. The heavier the coating, the longer the life of the barbed wire.
Stainless Steel Wires
Stainless steel barbed is expensive and is only made against specific requirement. It is usually made for fencing in coastal areas where regular GI barbed wires also tend to rust soon. The wire used is stainless steel 304 grade.
PVC Coated Wires
Barbed wire can also be made from PVC coated wires. The most sought after colour is green though PVC coated barbed wire can be manufactured using PVC wire of any colour as required. These have become popular due to its aesthetic look and rust proof properties.
The barbs are twisted around the line wires in 2 patterns – Iowa (Type A) and the Gidden (Type B).
